Backpacking in California - Joshua Tree National Park
Highlights
Expect to see panoramic vistas, dramatic rock formations, picturesque sandy washes, and more.
This superb trek will take you to the edge of the park boundary. We will travel on parts of the California Riding and Hiking Trail and do a large loop around Quail Mountain.
We rate this hike as "strenuous" meaning our backpacks will be heavier, we'll be hiking over varied terrain, and we'll be arriving at our campsites later in the afternoon. Due to the many side trips available, mileage on this trek varies. We'll hike though open desert, narrow canyons, sandy washes, and along ridgetops. This adventure is for guests in excellent physical condition. It is also the perfect gift for that special hiker. The Extended Quail Mountain Loop is a backpacking adventure available as a 5 or 7 day trek.
