Backpacking in California - Yosemite National Park
Highlights
Hike along the edge of the highly controversial Hetch Hetchy Reservoir & in the surrounding area.
Once described by John Muir as "an exact counterpart to the great Yosemite", this corner of the park is full of stunning beauty.
After meeting your guides at the trailhead, you'll hike across the O'Shaughnessy Dam, then out of the valley. Once at the top, you'll hike through forests and meadows, over ridgetops and alongside a pristine lake. On the final day you'll hike past the base of a waterfall where you can cool off before finishing the tour.
We rate this hike as "moderately strenuous" meaning we'll be hiking over varied terrain and arriving at our campsites later in the afternoon. Due to the many side trips available, mileage on this trek varies. This hike is perfect for guests looking for a longer, less crowded trek away from Yosemite Valley.
