The Pindos Range, which characterizes Epirus, forms the spine of the northern half of mainland Greece and reaches a maximum elevation of 2,637 m at Mt. Smolikas, the second highest peak in Greece. Cutting through the Pindos range, is the breathtaking 12 km. Vikos Gorge, listed as the deepest gorge in the world, and filled with forests and rivers. The Gorge is surrounded by the traditional stone built Zagori villages, an ideal location for discovering the region.
