Lodore was the first major canyon encountered by John Wesley Powell and his men on their 1869 expedition. Powell's adventures live on in the rapids he named: Disaster Falls, Triplet Falls and Hells Half Mile.

The Tavaputs Ranch overlooks Desolation Canyon of the Green River. After two days of exploring the mountains on horseback, a short flight will take you to the beginning of your river trip. There we will trade our cowboy hats for shorts and paddles.
