A visit to Laos is like stepping back in time and the locals have retained innocence and charm that is as rare to encounter. The Land of a Million Elephants, is a land of natural attractions; the route is abundant with stimulating and constantly changing scenery. The tour rides in arid scrubland, to jungle, and lush valleys with great views over the Mekong. The ruins of Wat Phu and the curious stone towers at Phu Asa sets the tour off, ahead of a series of lovely rides - combined with island hopping along the powerful Mekong River. The route passes many small villages, visiting colonial Champasak, criss-crossing the Mekong and continuing the island hopping southwards to the Khan Phapeng waterfalls to spot the elusive Irrawaddy dolphins. The temperate Bolaven Plateau, famed for its coffee growing climate, is where the tour finds two leisurely waterfalls, in one day, to cool off in; at the Tad Fane Falls and later the Tad Lo Falls. A last ride on undulating roads follows, before a transfer back to Ubon Ratchathani.
